I've been following Denny Travis Rowland Jr.'s case closely, and I keep thinking about the bravery and heartbreak his mother must have endured that night. Holding onto her own life while trying to save her son's and then standing in court to face the people who shattered her world must have been incredibly daunting. Charla LasCasas’s victim impact statement really struck a chord with me. It’s hard to imagine how someone finds the strength to articulate such immense pain and loss in front of a courtroom. I can't help but admire her courage and hope the community continues to support her and Denny’s younger brother as they navigate life without him. This tragedy is a stark reminder of how devastating and far-reaching the impacts of violence can be. Sending love to Denny’s family and friends—your memories and love for him are powerful testaments to the person he was.
