With the Virginia Sacco and Gary Love case, has anyone considered the possibility of unexpected weather changes affecting their flight path? Around that time in late July, sudden fog or storms could have made navigation extremely challenging, even for experienced pilots. The Cessna 170 isn't equipped with the most advanced technology for detecting weather changes, especially in the early '90s. I've read about similar cases where pilots had no choice but to attempt emergency landings due to poor visibility. With the landing gear found offshore, it makes me wonder if they encountered turbulence or an issue that forced them to try a sea landing. What do you all think about the role weather may have played here?
