I've been thinking a lot about the impact on those two kids who discovered Javier Lizaola and Alex Esquivel. It's easy to focus on the investigation and the court case, but can you imagine how traumatic that must have been for them? Just walking home from the store and suddenly being thrust into a horrific crime scene. I really hope they got the support and counseling they needed. It’s troubling how violence affects so many more people than just the immediate victims. It's not just about justice for the families of Javier and Alex, but also about healing the entire community, especially those young witnesses.
