It’s really haunting to think about how swiftly a community can be shattered. What sticks with me about the Westernville New Year's Day shooting is the abruptness of it all. Jane Turke Ringrose was just trying to embrace the new year with family, like so many of us do, when her life was stolen in such a senseless act of violence. It serves as a stark reminder that domestic issues can sometimes escalate beyond what anyone could predict. I keep wondering what signs, if any, were missed or if this tragedy could have been averted with different intervention strategies. We need to seriously consider how we can support people going through tumultuous personal times to prevent these kinds of catastrophic breakdowns. My heart goes out to everyone who knew Jane and to the survivors who have to live with this painful void.
