I was reading about the St. Valentine’s Day massacre in the Bronx, and Annette Medina's story really stood out to me. I can't stop thinking about how young she was, just 17, with her whole life ahead. It's incredibly saddening to think about her family and friends who have been carrying the pain of her loss for all these years. It's particularly upsetting that a broken door was all it took for those responsible to get into the building and commit such a horrendous act. I can’t help but wonder what might have been if the building had better security. It’s a stark reminder of how essential proper safety measures are, especially in residential environments. My heart goes out to all the victims and their loved ones. Their courage in fighting for justice amidst such a difficult time is truly admirable.

I've been reading through various angles of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre case, and one thing that just doesn’t sit right with me is the glaring security failures at the apartment building. It’s truly distressing to think that something as simple as a broken door allowed these murderers to gain access and cause such unimaginable pain to these families. It makes me pause and consider how many other buildings might be risking tenants' safety due to lax maintenance. Annette Medina and the other victims might still be here if proper measures had been enforced. My heart goes out to her loved ones, and I hope this tragedy has led to increased scrutiny in building security elsewhere. It’s just so hard to wrap my head around how preventable it could have been.
