Wow, I just can't stop thinking about how much Karen must have meant to her students at Voorheesville High. Being the head of the mathematics department for 20 long years says a lot about her dedication and passion for teaching. I didn't know her personally, but as someone who had a couple of amazing teachers leave a big impression on my life, I can only imagine how hard this loss has been on those she taught and worked with. It breaks my heart to think about all those young lives she touched and influenced through her love for mathematics and teaching. Does anyone know if the school did something to honor her memory or if there's a fund or scholarship set up in her name? I'd love to contribute if there's something like that out there. Let's not forget to keep the Boyea family in our thoughts during these unimaginable times.
I've been thinking a lot about Karen Boyea’s legacy after her tragic passing, and it’s just so clear how impactful she was on her students and the community. It’s evident from the stories shared by her former students and colleagues how she not only taught math but also inspired and supported those around her. As someone who was deeply involved in both her teaching career and her quilting groups, she seemed to naturally connect with people on a genuine level.
It’s hard to fathom how someone who brought so much positivity into others’ lives could be dealing with such intense personal struggles. It makes me reflect on how important it is to check in on those we care about. Karen’s dedication and kindness made a lasting mark on so many people. My thoughts are with her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. If anyone else has memories of Karen that they're willing to share, I think it could be a meaningful way to honor her memory during this difficult time.
