I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact that Andres Valenzuela had been a police officer back in Mexico before moving to the United States. It’s so tragic to imagine that someone who dedicated part of their life to keeping others safe would end up a victim of such violence. His experience as an officer must have been invaluable, and I can't help but feel a sense of loss not just for his family, but for the community as well. He was clearly someone who made a positive impact wherever he was, and it deeply saddens me that he was taken from us in such a senseless way. My heart goes out to his family—losing a loved one is never easy, but knowing the background and sacrifice Andres made only adds to the weight of this tragedy. I hope they find some comfort in the many lives he touched during his time here.

It's been over two years since Andres Valenzuela's tragic murder, and my heart goes out to his family who are still navigating life without him. I recently rewatched the surveillance footage and was struck by how quickly a life can be shattered. It's chilling to think how someone like Blakely, with a long history of violent crimes, was still out on the streets. The plea deal leaving out his other charges is frustrating to say the least. Why weren't they all bundled together to ensure he stays behind bars longer? I can't help but think about all the lives Blakely has hurt. Valenzuela was truly an upstanding member of our community, respected by so many. It's clear his family's loss goes beyond words, and I truly hope they find some peace knowing that despite the legal outcomes, the community stands with them.
