Just curious if anyone else feels like the altitude might have played a role in making it even harder for the search teams? I know the Kahiltna River area is pretty remote and challenging terrain as-is, but does anyone know if the high elevation around there affects how quick a rescue or recovery can happen? It feels like every little thing adds up in these search operations. Stay safe, everyone, and keep the victim's family in your thoughts.
Hi everyone,
I've been going over the details of this case involving the missing person on the Kahiltna River, and something struck me about the boat's location. It seems like the spot they hit the rock was around 9 to 10 miles up from the Yetna River, which makes me wonder about the visibility and water conditions in that area. Has anyone familiar with that stretch of the river noticed if it's notoriously difficult to navigate or if there are hidden obstacles that could easily surprise even an experienced boater? I'm curious if there are known trouble spots or if the river conditions could have changed recently due to weather or other factors. Any insights from locals or regulars on this part of the river would be helpful as we try to piece together what might have happened. Thanks in advance for any info you can share.
