I've been following the case of Brian Baskind and Clifford Preston pretty closely, and there's one thing that's been on my mind lately: the testimonies given by their family members during the sentencing in 2016. These statements really highlighted the immense pain and loss caused by the murders. I can't even begin to imagine what their loved ones went through, not just during the trial, but in the days and years afterwards. It's clear that the legal system did its best to deliver justice, but nothing can truly fill the void left by losing someone so brutally. Does anyone else feel that hearing these personal stories during sentencing helps bring some level of closure to grieving families, or is it just another painful reminder?
