Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Louis Allen Burts, and I can’t help but think about how difficult it must have been for his family and community during that time. I recently read up on how Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church hosted his funeral, and it really struck me how important community spaces like that are in times of grief. They provide not just a place for mourning, but also for gathering and supporting one another. It highlights how the fabric of a community can offer some sense of solace, even amidst such tragic events. My thoughts are with Louis's family and friends; I hope they continue to find strength in each other and their community. We really need to figure out how to tackle the root causes of the violence that takes away so many lives. Stay safe, everyone.

Hey everyone, I’ve been reading through the posts about Louis Allen Burts, and something that struck me was the impact his death had on his local community. I recently came across a piece about the vigils held at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where Louis’s funeral took place. It's clear that he was cherished by those who knew him, and the church seemed like a central place of support and grieving for his loved ones. What really moved me was how the community rallied around his family in such a difficult time, trying to make sense of the violence that took a beloved member away. It’s heartbreaking to see how these tragedies push communities to come together, even as they fight the fear that their own city isn’t the safe place it once was. Does anyone else know if any community initiatives started after his passing to try to curb the violence in Indy back then? Sometimes these efforts can be small lights in a lot of darkness. Much love to Louis’s family and friends. Stay safe, everyone.
