On June 6, 1992, Suzanne "Suzie" Streeter, 19, and her friend Stacy McCall, 18, graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri. The evening was filled with celebration as the two attended several graduation parties. Initially planning to spend the night at a friend's house, they changed plans due to overcrowding and decided to stay at Suzie's home at 1717 East Delmar Street, where she lived with her mother, Sherrill Levitt, 47. The trio was last seen around 2:15 a.m. on June 7, 1992, when Suzie and Stacy left the final party to return home .
The following morning, friends and family became concerned when they couldn't reach the women. Upon visiting the Delmar Street residence, they found the front door unlocked, the family's dog, Cinnamon, agitated, and all three women's personal belongings—including purses, keys, and cars—left behind. There were no signs of a struggle, but a broken porch light globe was noted. An unusual message on the answering machine was inadvertently erased before it could be reviewed by authorities .
The Springfield Police Department launched an extensive investigation with assistance from the FBI and other agencies. Despite receiving over 5,000 tips and conducting numerous interviews, no substantial leads emerged. The case quickly garnered national attention, featuring on programs like "America's Most Wanted" and "Unsolved Mysteries" .
Various theories have been proposed over the years. One suggests that the women were abducted by someone they knew, possibly an ex-boyfriend or acquaintance. Another theory involves Robert Craig Cox, a convicted kidnapper and robber, who claimed in 1997 that he knew the women had been murdered and their bodies would never be found.
