A Routine Outing Turns Mysterious
On October 21, 1997, Steven Scott Austin, a 42-year-old resident of Soldotna, Alaska, embarked on what appeared to be a routine boating trip with his companion, William Kent Watkins. The duo set out aboard their private vessel, the 'Loose Goose Too,' and were last seen purchasing fuel in Seldovia that afternoon. Their intended route would have taken them through the waters of Kachemak Bay and the lower Cook Inlet. However, neither the men nor their vessel were ever seen again.
An Intensive Search Yields No Clues
Following their disappearance, the U.S. Coast Guard launched an extensive search operation covering the entirety of Kachemak Bay and the lower Cook Inlet. Despite their efforts, no trace of the 'Loose Goose Too' or its occupants was found.
