A Mysterious Disappearance in the Heart of Wyoming
On the evening of January 8, 2018, 29-year-old Kyle Jay Ellis was dropped off at a gas station in Greybull, Wyoming, by a woman who had given him a ride from Bear Lodge in the Bighorn Mountains. She also gave him $20 for a meal. This was the last confirmed sighting of Kyle. He has not been seen or heard from since.
A Troubled Past and a Search for Meaning
Kyle's life before his disappearance was marked by struggles with mental health and substance abuse. Once an honor student and multi-sport athlete, he attended the University of Las Vegas, where he began to exhibit signs of mental illness, including excessive partying and self-medication. He eventually dropped out, leading to a cycle of drug and alcohol abuse, arrests, and a stint in rehab in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Though unofficially diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his mother believes he may have suffered from borderline personality disorder or schizophrenia.
