A Routine Flight Turns Into a Lingering Mystery
On May 3, 1992, a twin-engine Cessna 340 aircraft, tail number N69469, departed Yakutat, Alaska, en route to Anchorage. Aboard were five men: Kent Roth, Jeffrey Roth, Scott Roth, Timothy Thornton, and Brian Barber. The flight was expected to be routine, but it never reached its destination. The last communication with air traffic control indicated the plane was cruising at 12,000 feet under instrument flight rules. After that, all contact was lost, and the aircraft vanished without a trace.
