On May 3, 1992, a twin-engine Cessna 340, tail number N69469, vanished over Alaska's rugged wilderness during a routine flight from Yakutat to Anchorage. Among the five men aboard was 45-year-old Jeffrey Roth, a resident of Juneau, Alaska. The flight was expected to be uneventful, but it became one of Alaska's enduring aviation mysteries.
A Routine Journey Turns Mysterious
The aircraft departed Yakutat under instrument flight rules, with the pilot reporting to the FAA that they were cruising at 12,000 feet en route to Anchorage.
