A Routine Flight Turns Mysterious
On August 11, 1996, Nichol Paul Sias and William Cork embarked on what was supposed to be a brief 20-minute flight from Anderson Bay to Dutch Harbor, Alaska. The journey, however, took a tragic turn when the aircraft failed to arrive at its destination. Subsequent search efforts led to the discovery of parts of the plane on the beach in Constantine Bay, but neither Sias nor Cork were ever found. This incident remains one of Alaska's enduring aviation mysteries.
The Men Behind the Names
Nichol Paul Sias, born in 1938, was 58 years old at the time of his disappearance. His companion, William Cork, was 41. Both men were experienced in navigating Alaska's challenging terrains and weather conditions.
