A Quiet Trip Turns Tragic
Paul Woodworth Kelley, a 38-year-old man from Ketchikan, Alaska, vanished on May 28, 1996, during a boating trip on Wilson Lake, approximately 50 miles east of Ketchikan. He was staying with three companions in a U.S. Forest Service cabin near the lake's southern end. That day, Kelley took a skiff out onto the lake but failed to return. His companions later found the skiff empty, about an eighth of a mile from the cabin. Despite extensive search efforts, Kelley was never found and is presumed to have drowned.
