A Routine Flight Turns Mysterious
On May 2, 1999, David McKenzie, a 50-year-old pilot, and his passenger, 34-year-old Scott Croll, embarked on a flight from Haines to Juneau, Alaska. They were aboard a red and white Piper PA-24 Comanche aircraft, tail number N8694P. The journey, typically a straightforward trip over the rugged Alaskan terrain, took a tragic turn when the aircraft vanished without a trace. The last reported position was between Point Bridget and Mab Island, approximately 40 miles north of Juneau.
The Search Efforts
Following the disappearance, extensive search operations were launched. Ground teams, aerial surveillance, and maritime units scoured the region, focusing on the area between Point Bridget and Mab Island.
