Bridgett Lee Pendell-Williamson, born on June 12, 1973, in New York, was a woman of ambition and talent. She attended the Barbizon Modeling School during her high school years and later pursued a career in nursing, obtaining her license in Vermont. By the early 1990s, she was married and had a daughter, seemingly on a path to a stable and fulfilling life.
However, Bridgett's life took a drastic turn when she became involved with the Grateful Dead's traveling community. Immersed in this subculture, she began using drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD. Her marriage dissolved, and she lost custody of her daughter. By 1995, she had ceased practicing nursing, and her Vermont license eventually lapsed. Her family last saw her in December 1996, when she returned to New York for a brief stay and attempted a two-month drug rehabilitation program, which she left prematurely.
After leaving rehab, Bridgett returned to San Francisco, where she lived a transient lifestyle. She was known to frequent areas such as the Tenderloin and Mission districts, staying in hotels like The Royan, The Allstar, The Eula, and The 16th Street Hotel. She was also arrested multiple times for prostitution, with her last known arrest occurring in April 1997. She failed to appear for her court date, and this arrest remains the last confirmed record of her.
Bridgett's sister, Jacqueline Horne, undertook extensive efforts to locate her. In 2004, Jacqueline traveled to San Francisco, distributing flyers and speaking with members of the homeless community. She discovered a photograph of a homeless woman known as "The Crier," taken by the San Francisco Chronicle, who bore a striking resemblance to Bridgett. Despite this lead, the woman in the photograph was never identified, and it remains uncertain if she was indeed Bridgett....Read More
