On the evening of May 10, 1986, 17-year-old Kimberly Moreau of Jay, Maine, made a decision that would alter the course of her life and leave her family searching for answers for decades. After an argument with her boyfriend, Kim chose to skip her junior prom and instead went out with a friend. Later that night, she was seen getting into a late-model white Pontiac Trans Am with her friend and a 25-year-old man named Brian Enman. Kim briefly stopped by her home on Jewell Street around 11:00 p.m., telling her sister she would return in about an hour. She left without her purse, makeup, or any personal belongings. According to Enman, he dropped Kim off at approximately 3:45 a.m. on Jewell Street, half a mile from her home. He claimed she wanted to walk the rest of the way alone. Kim was never seen again.
Richard Moreau, Kim's father, has been relentless in his pursuit of the truth about his daughter's disappearance. Over the years, he has maintained contact with Enman, hoping to uncover any information that could lead to Kim's whereabouts. In 2015, authorities searched a five-acre property belonging to Enman, but the search yielded no new evidence. Richard has expressed skepticism about Enman's account, stating that Kim would not have chosen to walk alone in the dark on a cold night.
The Maine State Police have kept Kim's case open, considering it an active investigation. They have conducted extensive searches in Jay, Canton, Livermore, and Livermore Falls. Detective Corporal Michael Chavez, part of the State Police Unsolved Homicide Unit, has emphasized the importance of bringing Kim home and acknowledges the challenges posed by the passage of time. While Enman has been identified as a person of interest, he has never been charged in connection with Kim's disappearance.
The disappearance of Kimberly Moreau has left a lasting impact on the Jay community. Residents have participated in memorial walks and other events to honor her memory and support her family. In 2021, a mini-documentary was produced to bring attention to Kim's case, featuring interviews with her family members. The community's continued involvement reflects a collective desire for closure and justice. ...Read More
