A Sudden Departure into Uncertainty
On the early morning of September 22, 2017, eight-year-old Karam Govens Jr. and his mother, Georgia Brown, departed from Georgia's mother's residence in Port St. Lucie, Florida, around 12:30 a.m. Georgia, who had been staying there due to marital issues, received a distressing phone call shortly before leaving. She appeared "very distressed, frightened" and in a hurry, according to her mother. They left in a silver 2003 Toyota Camry with Florida license plate ENS-Q75 and never arrived at their intended destination.

Following their departure, Georgia's cell phone was turned off, and there was no communication from either her or Karam. Her mother reported them missing three days later.
