A Young Mother’s Life in Bossier City

Penelope Marie “Penny” Madanat was a 23-year-old mother of two living in Bossier City, Louisiana. In October 1991, she had recently separated from her husband, Akhim “Eddie” Madanat, and was living with their children. Penny had just earned her cosmetology license and began working at Pro Cuts on Airline Drive. She was described as a white female, 5'7" tall, weighing 128 pounds, with auburn hair, blue eyes, braces on her teeth, a birthmark on her upper left arm, and a small mole above her lip on the right side.

The Night She Disappeared

On the evening of October 25, 1991, Penny planned to celebrate receiving her first paycheck by going to Cowboys nightclub on Gould Drive with her sister. However, when her daughter became ill, Penny's sister stayed home to care for the child, and Penny went to the club alone. Witnesses reported that Penny and her estranged husband, Eddie, were seen arguing inside the club that night. Eddie claimed that Penny was intoxicated, and he offered to drive her home in his black Honda Prelude. He stated that during the drive, they continued arguing, and Penny demanded to be let out of the car. Eddie said he dropped her off on Gould Drive and then drove himself home.

Last Known Sighting

A clerk at a nearby restaurant reported that Penny entered the establishment late that night, asking for change to use a payphone. The clerk noted that a dark-colored vehicle was parked outside during this time. This was the last confirmed sighting of Penny. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Investigation and Suspicions

Shortly after Penny's disappearance, Eddie underwent two polygraph examinations, both of which he failed. Authorities have stated that they believe Eddie knows more about Penny's disappearance and consider him a possible suspect. After Penny went missing, Eddie took their two children and moved to Jordan. The United States does not have an extradition treaty with Jordan, preventing authorities from compelling Eddie to return to Louisiana for further questioning. No charges have been filed in the case, but foul play is suspected. ...Read More
