On October 18, 1992, Heather Leigh Cook, a 37-year-old resident of Juneau, Alaska, embarked on what was expected to be a routine fishing expedition aboard the commercial vessel Sea Note. Departing from Yakutat, the vessel's journey took a tragic turn when it encountered severe weather conditions, leading to its capsizing and sinking in the Gulf of Alaska. Despite extensive search efforts, Heather's body was never recovered, and she remains listed as a missing person to this day.
The Sea Note's Final Voyage
The Sea Note, a commercial fishing vessel, was operating in the treacherous waters off the coast of Yakutat, an area known for its unpredictable weather and challenging sea conditions. On that fateful day in October, the vessel encountered a sudden and severe storm, causing it to roll and ultimately sink.
