A Routine Flight Turns Mysterious
On May 3, 1992, 38-year-old Brian Thomas Barber boarded a twin-engine Cessna 340, tail number N69469, in Yakutat, Alaska, bound for Anchorage. Accompanying him were Jeffrey Roth, Timothy Thornton, Kent Roth, and Scott Roth. The flight was expected to be uneventful, with the last communication to FAA air-traffic controllers indicating the plane was at 12,000 feet, navigating on instruments toward Anchorage. However, the aircraft never arrived, and no trace of it or its occupants has been found since.
The Search Efforts
Following the disappearance, search and rescue operations were initiated by the Alaska State Troopers and other agencies. Despite extensive efforts, including aerial searches over the rugged terrain between Yakutat and Anchorage, no wreckage or evidence was discovered.
