On the afternoon of March 30, 1985, George Robert Miles, a 57-year-old employee at Carlton Massey Ford Inc. in Pocomoke City, Maryland, informed his coworkers that he was heading into town and would return shortly. He departed the dealership around 2:00 p.m., driving a 1985 Ford Escort owned by the dealership. Despite his routine plans, George never returned, and neither he nor the vehicle has been seen since.
George Miles was a tall man, standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing approximately 215 pounds. He had gray hair, brown eyes, and was balding at the time of his disappearance. Notable physical features included a scar on his nose, a mole on the left side of his chest, and previous fractures in his right leg and several ribs. On the day he vanished, he was dressed in a short-sleeved white shirt with navy blue stripes, dark gray pants, and black shoes.
The circumstances surrounding George's disappearance have left investigators and his community puzzled for decades. There were no indications of personal or domestic issues that might have prompted him to leave voluntarily. The fact that he was driving a dealership vehicle and intended to return shortly suggests he had no plans to disappear. The vehicle he was driving, a 1985 Ford Escort with Maryland license plate number D47532 or D46400, was also never recovered.
Authorities have long suspected foul play in George's disappearance. Despite extensive investigations, no concrete leads have emerged. The case has been classified as an endangered missing person, and some agencies list it as involuntary missing. Over the years, various theories have been proposed, including the possibility of an accident, foul play, or a premeditated act. However, without evidence, these remain speculative. ...Read More
