On the early morning of November 28, 1994, in De Soto, Kansas, 37-year-old Jack Allen Shultz left his home under mysterious circumstances. At approximately 5:00 a.m., a relative heard a car horn outside the residence. Shortly thereafter, Jack was gone, leaving behind his wallet and favorite belt, but taking other personal belongings. This was the last confirmed sighting of him.
Despite his disappearance, Jack was not reported missing until January 4, 1995, over a month later. This delay was attributed to his history of sporadic absences, often disappearing for periods without notice. At the time, Jack was known to lead a rough lifestyle, involving drugs and alcohol, and had a history of minor criminal offenses. He had a warrant out for his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) and had expressed intentions to turn himself in.
Jack may have been suffering from Huntington’s Disease, a progressive and terminal condition affecting nerve cells in the brain. Physically, he was a 6'1" tall, 160-pound Caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes. He often wore glasses and may have had a beard or mustache. Notable distinguishing features included a comminuted fracture of the nasal bones, a scar on the back of his neck, and dental issues described as "bad teeth" and gingivitis.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, have conducted extensive investigations into Jack's disappearance. Hundreds of interviews were carried out, and numerous areas in rural De Soto were searched. Despite these efforts, no concrete evidence has surfaced. Rumors circulated that Jack had been murdered at a nearby farm, but searches yielded no results. Foul play is suspected, as it was uncharacteristic for Jack to be out of touch with his loved ones for such an extended period. ...Read More
