A Teenage Girl Lost to Time

On May 23, 1985, 14-year-old Jody Lee Ledkins vanished in Kansas City, Missouri. She was last seen walking northbound on Winchester Avenue from 14th Street after leaving her friend's house. That night, she had called her mother, Karen Stratton, around 10:00 p.m., asking for a ride home. Karen couldn't pick her up due to lack of transportation, and Jody mentioned she would find another ride. She was never seen or heard from again.

A Troubled Home Life

Jody's upbringing was marked by instability. Her parents divorced in 1981, and her mother's subsequent remarriage also ended in divorce.
