A Beloved Figure in a Small Town
Louis Charles Burroughs, affectionately known as L.C., was a well-known and respected member of the Millen, Georgia community. At 74 years old, he owned and operated LC Burroughs Junkyard on Highway 23 South, a business he had built after moving from New York City in the 1970s. In New York, he had run a restaurant, and upon relocating to Georgia, he initially managed a grocery store before establishing his junkyard. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work made him a familiar face in Jenkins County.
The Day He Disappeared
On the morning of September 26, 2013, L.C. followed his usual routine, heading to his junkyard. While on the phone with someone, the caller overheard L.C. engaging in a heated argument with another individual about stolen car parts.
