On March 19, 1996, Edna Eloise Glaze, an 80-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease, left her family's home in Brevard, North Carolina, intending to walk to a nearby hardware store . However, in 2014, a judge dismissed the charges, citing a violation of Owen's right to a speedy trial due to the 13-year gap between his confession and the indictment .
