On December 23, 2008, the city of Mission, Texas, was shaken by the tragic murder of Walton "Pinky" Sanchez. That evening, Sanchez was visiting a friend's home at 2020 Joanna Street when a gold-colored car approached. The occupants called him over, and as he neared the vehicle, he was fatally shot. Despite immediate attention, Sanchez, known affectionately by nicknames such as "Pinky," "El Zurdo," and "Lefty," succumbed to his injuries at the age of 48.
