Discovery of a Tragic Incident
On May 1, 2017, Louisville Metro Police conducted a welfare check at 1315 Rosewell Avenue after concerns arose from family members who hadn't heard from the residents. Upon entering the home, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of 60-year-old Eugene "Gene" Turner and his 72-year-old aunt, Sudella Davis. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, marking a grim day for the Chickasaw neighborhood.
Profiles of the Victims
Gene Turner was a well-known figure in West Louisville, owning the popular Club Cedar located at the corner of 26th and Cedar Streets.
