On May 22, 2019, at approximately 12:48 PM, the life of 31-year-old Pierre Mercer was tragically ended in the 2300 block of Shannon Place, SE, Washington, D.C. Mercer, a resident of the District, was fatally shot in broad daylight, leaving the community in shock and mourning. Despite the passage of time, his murder remains unsolved, and the search for justice continues.
A Troubled Past
Mercer's life was marked by previous encounters with the law. In 2017, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The incident occurred on September 22, 2015, when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Criminal Interdiction Unit executed a search warrant in Southeast Washington. During the operation, Mercer was found carrying a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun concealed around his waist.
