A Life Cut Short: Remembering Harold Anthony

Harold Wayne “H” Anthony Sr. was born on July 1, 1981, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A devoted father, son, and brother, Harold was known for his warm smile and generous spirit. He was a truck driver by trade and a graduate of McKinley High School. On September 8, 2017, at the age of 36, Harold's life was tragically ended when he and his friend, Donovan Cummings, were gunned down in broad daylight while renovating a flood-damaged home at 2522 Thomas H. Delpit Drive in Baton Rouge .

The Day of the Murders

On that fateful morning, Harold and Donovan were working on repairs at the aforementioned property, which had been affected by the historic August 2016 floods. Around 9:45 a.m., a vehicle arrived, and two to three men exited, chasing the pair and opening fire. Both men were shot and killed at the scene. The assailants fled, leaving behind a community in shock and mourning .

A Chain Reaction: The Murder of David Walker

Later that same day, David Walker, a neighbor and rumored witness to Harold and Donovan's murders, received a call from a prepaid cellphone instructing him to go to 3615 Seneca Street. That evening, David was found shot to death in his vehicle at that location. Investigators traced the call to Terrell Anthony, Harold's brother, who was reportedly upset that David denied knowledge of the earlier shootings .

Arson and Arrests: The Aftermath

Four days after David Walker's murder, his home was set on fire in an act ruled as arson. During the incident, Eric Earl Gray was arrested for attempting to enter the burning home and resisting officers. Meanwhile, authorities arrested Terrell Anthony on October 11, 2018, charging him with second-degree murder for David's death.
