A Life Rooted in Resilience
Born on February 20, 1944, in Vietnam, Tran Thi Tot, affectionately known as "Totsy," exemplified resilience from an early age. Following her father's death, she entered an arranged marriage at 14, which later dissolved, leaving her to support her young son, Minh. In 1968, a chance encounter with American Merchant Marine officer Clinton Harriman blossomed into a profound love story, leading to their marriage and the birth of their daughter, Thu Hong. Their union faced the backdrop of the Vietnam War, during which Tot courageously ensured her family's safety, eventually resettling in the United States.
Embracing New Horizons
The Harriman family established roots in Maine, where Tot became an integral community member, sharing her Vietnamese heritage through cooking and volunteer work. After Clinton's death in 1993, Tot relocated to Florida in 1996, seeking warmer climates and new beginnings.
