Farrer's last known whereabouts were at Rocky Comfort Creek, a favored fishing spot near Clark's Mill Road. Witnesses reported seeing him around 10:00 a.m. with two unidentified men in a white Dodge pickup truck bearing North Carolina license plates. One of these men was allegedly armed. Later that day, Farrer's boat was found anchored over a fallen tree, about a foot above the waterline.
