Background of the Disappearance

In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation in late September 2024, Asheville, North Carolina, faced unprecedented challenges. Among the numerous individuals reported missing during this period was 48-year-old Jason Luther Haydel. He was last seen on October 1, 2024, shortly after the hurricane's impact. Prior to his disappearance, on August 26, 2024, Haydel had been booked in Buncombe County on charges related to extradition as a fugitive from another state. This arrest adds a layer of complexity to his case, intertwining legal issues with the chaos following the natural disaster.

Search and Rescue Efforts

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene, local authorities, including the Asheville Police Department (APD), initiated extensive search and rescue operations. The catastrophic flooding and widespread devastation led to over 500 individuals being unaccounted for at one point. APD Captain Joe Silberman noted the monumental task they faced, stating, "We had over 400 address points," highlighting the vast number of locations requiring attention. This is my brother. He went missing from Buncombe county sheriff's department. He had surgery while in their care with home health set up supposedly. He has not been heard from on 10 months . Ashville police department upon onslow county sheriff reaching out they refused to do a missing person when my family went there . Useless and rude and scary to think this town has to deal with those who are to help and provide assistance to the community. The onslow county sheriff reached out to Sheriff miller of buncombe county and he then reached out to me . A detective McLaughlin was handling the case he is also useless I've received nothing . The missing persons report was never done o was gave a ID number for my brother. I went into my county sheriff's department onlsow county and they looked in the data based the missing persons report was never done . What are these people hiding . I believe something happened to my brother while in the buncombe county jail . The FBI needs to b
