Connie Marie Johnson, a 76-year-old resident of Nezperce, Idaho, was no stranger to the rugged terrain of the Pacific Northwest. As a former U.S. Forest Service wilderness ranger stationed at the Moose Creek Ranger Station, she had spent over two decades navigating the challenging landscapes of the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
