On the evening of April 15, 2020, Curtis "Greg" Kelsay, a 61-year-old resident of Boise, Idaho, vanished without a trace. He left his home near Lakeharbor and State Street without his wallet, phone, or necessary medication. Uncharacteristically, he took a headlamp and possibly walking poles, suggesting a planned excursion into the night. His silver 2010 Honda Civic was later discovered abandoned at the Dry Creek trailhead on Bogus Basin Road, intensifying concerns about his whereabouts.
Greg Kelsay was known among family and friends as a devoted and caring individual. Described by his brother-in-law, Allan Fidler, as someone for whom family was a significant priority, Greg's sudden disappearance was both alarming and out of character. His wife, Jackie Kelsay, recounted that he had been experiencing heightened stress and anxiety, particularly related to the uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. She noted that he had not been sleeping well, which may have contributed to his decision to leave.
The early months of the COVID-19 pandemic were marked by widespread uncertainty and fear. For Greg, the pandemic's impact was deeply personal. Jackie revealed that he was particularly anxious about the economic ramifications, including concerns about their rental properties and the financial stability of their tenants. This compounded stress may have led to feelings of hopelessness. She believes that his disappearance was a deliberate act, stating, "I think he knew what he was doing, I think he planned it, I think it was purposeful, I think he felt he had no other choices."
Following Greg's disappearance, local authorities, family, and friends initiated extensive search efforts. The Boise Police Department coordinated searches in the northeast Boise area, particularly around the Dry Creek trailhead where his vehicle was found. Search parties included police officers, volunteers, search dogs, and drones. Despite these efforts, no significant leads were uncovered. ...Read More
