A Routine Voyage Turns Tragic
On December 9, 2017, a seemingly ordinary workday on the Mississippi River turned into a tragic mystery. Keith Pigram, a 35-year-old seasoned tugboat captain, was piloting the 66-foot vessel Ricky Robinson near Memphis, Tennessee. Accompanying him was his 19-year-old stepson, Anquavious "Qua" Jamison. At 11:41 a.m., a distress call was made indicating the boat was sinking. Shortly thereafter, the tugboat capsized and sank near President's Island, approximately three miles south of Mud Island, in about 65 feet of water.
Salvage Efforts and Discovery
Nine days after the sinking, salvage crews managed to raise the Ricky Robinson from the depths of the Mississippi. Inside the recovered vessel, the body of Anquavious Jamison was found. However, Keith Pigram was not located within the wreckage. Despite extensive search efforts by the U.S. Coast Guard, local authorities, and other vessels, no trace of Pigram was found.
