A Life of Service and Dedication

Staff Sgt. Alfaz Sajid Khan, born on October 27, 1997, was a dedicated member of the Alaska Air National Guard. Enlisting on February 20, 2016, he served as an electrical environmental journeyman in the 168th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base. By April 1, 2019, he had transitioned to a full-time Active Guard/Reserve airman, demonstrating his commitment to both his unit and his country.

Intensive Search Efforts

Following his disappearance, a comprehensive search was launched involving Alaska State Troopers, the University Fire Department, Airport Fire and Rescue, and local wilderness search and rescue teams. A Trooper helicopter and PAWS search dogs were also deployed in the effort to locate Khan. Despite these extensive measures, his body was never recovered.

Honoring a Fallen Airman

A memorial service for Khan was held on June 17, 2020, at the 168th Maintenance Hangar on Eielson Air Force Base. Due to health guidelines at the time, attendance was limited to family members and colleagues. Col. Richard Adams, 168th Wing Commander, paid tribute to Khan, describing him as "a true professional with an amazing attitude and a loving, gregarious nature." ...Read More
