Richard Alan “Rick” Elton was a 58-year-old man living in Old Town, Florida, a small community nestled in Dixie County. Known for its rural charm and close-knit residents, Old Town was the kind of place where everyone knew each other. Rick was described as a white male, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds, with brown hair. He led a relatively quiet life, and there was little to suggest that anything was amiss until the spring of 2017.
On April 26, 2017, Rick was last seen by his wife, Sissy Elton, during the morning hours. Shortly thereafter, a fire broke out at their home in Gornto Springs, a nearby area within Dixie County. The fire was later determined to be arson, raising immediate suspicions about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Rick's daughter reported him missing on May 5, 2017, stating that she had last spoken to him ten days prior. The timing of the report, coupled with the recent house fire, added urgency to the investigation. Despite efforts by local authorities, including the Dixie County Sheriff's Office, no immediate leads emerged. The case quickly grew cold, leaving Rick's family and the community with more questions than answers.
Nearly five years later, on January 26, 2022, a hiker exploring a wooded area near Gornto Springs stumbled upon skeletal remains. The location was off NE 811th Street, a dirt road west of Gornto Springs. Alongside the remains, personal property belonging to Rick was found, providing the first significant break in the case in years. ...Read More
