The Fateful Evening

On the evening of April 5, 2014, the tranquility of Long Beach's Wrigley neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 9:07 p.m., residents in the 2300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue reported hearing multiple shots. Responding swiftly, Long Beach Police Department officers arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds to their lower bodies. One of the victims was 51-year-old Herbert Shepard, a resident of Los Angeles who was visiting friends in the area. Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, Shepard's injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead on April 8, 2014.
