A Promising Life Cut Short
On the morning of June 1, 2016, the West Elsdon neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by the tragic loss of 16-year-old Victor Felix. Known affectionately as "Baby Vic," Victor was a sophomore at John Hancock College Prep High School, standing tall at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 200 pounds. He was a familiar face in his community, often seen engaging in sports like basketball and softball, with aspirations to play at the collegiate level. His family and friends remember him as a good-natured individual, deeply loved by those around him.
The Fateful Walk to School
That day began like any other, with Victor's grandmother dropping him off at school. However, two friends invited him to walk to a nearby store before classes commenced. As they returned around 8:45 a.m., a brown Buick approached near the intersection of 56th and Keeler. An individual exited the vehicle and opened fire.
