A Tragic Night in Northeast Washington
On August 9, 1999, the tranquility of the 1600 block of Olive Street NE in Washington, D.C., was shattered by a violent crime. James L. Bullock Jr., a 25-year-old man known for his warm smile and generous spirit, was discovered fatally shot inside a car. The circumstances surrounding his death were, and remain, a perplexing mystery. Despite the efforts of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the case has languished without resolution for over two decades.
A Mother's Heartbreak and Determination
In the aftermath of her son's murder, Darnell Roseboro, James's mother, became an outspoken advocate for justice. In February 2001, she testified before a committee examining the MPD's homicide investigative practices. Ms. Roseboro expressed deep concerns about the handling of her son's case, highlighting issues such as the frequent reassignment of detectives and a perceived lack of communication from law enforcement.
