A Quiet Morning Shattered
On the morning of December 26, 2017, the tranquility of Birmingham's Ensley neighborhood was disrupted by a gruesome discovery. Around 9 a.m., a concerned neighbor noticed damage to the front door of a residence in the 1600 block of 30th Street Ensley. Upon further inspection, the neighbor found the lifeless bodies of 54-year-old Stella Truitt and 53-year-old Anthony Shuford inside their home, both victims of fatal gunshot wounds. The Birmingham Police Department was promptly notified, marking the beginning of a complex and, to date, unresolved investigation.
The Victims: Lives Cut Short
Stella J. "Lil Bessie" Truitt, born on October 9, 1960, was a beloved member of the Birmingham community. Known for her warm personality and dedication to her family, her untimely death left a void that remains unfilled. Her funeral service was held at First Baptist Church Ensley, and she was laid to rest in Dynasty Gardens.
