On April 29, 2010, Charles Smith, a 35-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood, specifically in the 2700 block of West Lexington Street. Smith was among a group of individuals standing on the sidewalk when an assailant in a silver minivan opened fire. The shooting resulted in the deaths of Charles Smith and 22-year-old Dequan Trimble, with three others sustaining injuries.
