Kendre Davis, aged 27, was fatally shot on January 15, 2014, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. The homicide took place on the street, in an area that has long struggled with high crime rates and a prevalence of gang activity. West Garfield Park has consistently been one of the neighborhoods most impacted by gun violence, and Davis' death was a tragic addition to the escalating violence that marked Chicago during that period.
