Corteze F. Reed, a 23-year-old resident of Chicago, was fatally shot on May 24, 2014. The incident took place in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, which has been heavily impacted by frequent gun violence for many years. Reed was shot during the early hours of the morning while standing in an area notorious for gang-related activities.
