On May 7, 2019, a tragic school shooting occurred at STEM School Highlands Ranch, a charter school located in Douglas County, Colorado, in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch. The incident resulted in the death of 18-year-old Kendrick Ray Castillo, a senior who was just days away from his high school graduation.
