On March 19, 2018, the life of 18-year-old Antonio Torres was tragically cut short by gun violence in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Hispanic male was found unresponsive in the parking lot of a Smith's grocery store. The incident was one of several homicides to occur in the city within a short period, contributing to a growing concern over violent crime in the area. In the early months of 2018 alone, Albuquerque had already seen close to 20 homicides.
